Temp housing fun!

Today is our last day of temporary housing in Greenville. We're headed to Charleston for 3 weeks and then head to France on Jan 8th. We are really going to miss everyone in the US. This isn't good bye this is see you later!!!

I am apparently James Bond's mother (CPS - that is WATER by the way).

Lily emptied her suitcase on a daily basis. I'm not kidding.

We found a nice hill to run up and down.

Lily found all kind of things other than toys to play with.

We worked on our fine motor skills.

St. Nicholas even found us!

Come to France and see us.

POP

Thursday was Charlie's last day of K4 at POP. He had a great semester and really enjoyed his time there. I will really miss POP and his sweet teachers.

Next stop French school!

Besides the hair growth - it is amazing to see how much he has changed in just a few months!

First day of K4.

Last day of K4 at POP.

Thanksgiving - opps

I thought I had posted about Thanksgiving but my records show otherwise! So here you go...

We spent Thanksgiving at Lake Lure, NC this year with all the cousins, aunts, uncles and of course Vaso and Papa. We had a great time hiking, eating, fishing, eating, kayaking, eating, roasting marshmallows (does that count as eating?), eating, and well eating. We will remember this Thanksgiving for years to come. Thank you Vaso and Papa!!

Our view!

Did I mention the food?

 Family bonding.

We even celebrated Lily's 1st bday (a little early) since everyone was already together! Please ignore the broken in half cake "glued" together with cake icing...

Temp Housing

We have moved into our apartment - all 1200 square feet of it. Charlie and Ruthie are thrilled and love it. Everyone seems to be adjusting really well and it is feeling like home. At least for the next 3 weeks - then it is time to move again...

Moving Day!

Much to our surprise we sold our house after about 1.5 months of being on the market. That means we had to move into temporary housing and out of our house. The movers came on Wednesday and started boxing up everything we own. Some went to storage. A lot is going to meet us in France. On Friday a big semi truck pulled up to the house and the movers loaded everything labeled for France into it...

Getting Passports is (NOT) so much fun.

I realize we live in a post 9/11 world and with that comes more paperwork, red tape, etc. I get it and for the most part I'm completely fine with it. Except when it involves me, my 3 kids and a 95 degree post office. It was a Wednesday (maybe who can remember the day of the week anyways) and the kids had gotten up from their naps early. I decided that since the post office passport window was only open at certain hours we would try to go get that loose end tied up.

We arrived and after a stern warning that everyone needed to obey or there would be consequences we unloaded and headed in. During the paperwork process a few days before my husband and realized that as honest, hard working, legal, non criminal citizens of this country we had to fill out 15 pages of paperwork for each child's passports AND have my husband include a written, signed and notarized statement that yes, I was in fact allowed to file for passports in his absence. So I walk up to the passport counter and handed her the pile of papers and pictures (that took a good 45 minutes to an hour to get at a local CVS). After looking at the pictures and paperwork it was determined that Ruthie needed her picture taken again and so did Lily, we needed a copy of Rick's drivers license and I had the wrong type of birth certificate for one of the kids. After an hour and a half (I had to go to the car for a 10 minute break in the middle so I wouldn't scream and I had to feed Lily), we left with 2 passports filed and mine renewed.

Thankfully all the passports have finally arrived. Next up visas. French Consulate here we come!

Here is Ruthie's original passport picture. I'm thinking of maybe using it in her senior yearbook?

Lily's looks like we gave her a bad dye job. Which, for the record we have NEVER dyed her hair. As a reference her hair is the color of Ruthie's in real life.

And Charlie looks like a juvenile delinquent. I can't find his pictures. I love my kids. They make me laugh. A lot.
