IRELAND!!!!
This summer we spent 2 wonderful weeks in Ireland. We were in the Dingle Peninsula. Our journey started with a 6 hour drive to Cherbourg, France and staying the night at a nice chateau. The next afternoon we took an overnight ferry (which Lily called the "party boat") to Ireland. The boat was like a very small cruise ship. It had games and entertainment for the kids, restaurants and coffee shops. The kids loved the magic shows, food and running around looking at the ship.
Once in Ireland we drove another 5 hours to Dingle. We were happy to be staying put for awhile after arriving. There were a lot of fun adventures to be had...starting with Rick having to remember to drive on the left side of the road.
We spent the first week going to the beach (when it was warm enough), exploring the town of Dingle, neighboring villages and going on a hike or two with Uncle Rhett. The second week Rick's parents arrived.
Ireland is truly a beautiful and whimsical country. The lush green color of the landscape makes you feel like you are in a fairy tale. Some of the places we visited were: the Beehive Huts, St Brennan's house, Eask Tower, Blarney Castle, Gallarus Oratory, Kilmalkedar Church, Dunbeg Fort, Minard Castle, Ventry Beach, Inch Beach, Slea Head Drive, the Blasket Islands and of course...Murphy's Ice Cream shop!!!
